Shannon Skowron
Lancaster High School PhysicsShannon Skowron earned her BA in Biological Sciences from SUNY Buffalo and M.S. Ed. from Canisius College. She has been teaching at Lancaster High School for the past 24 years. During this time she has taught Biology, Chemistry, General Science and Physics at all levels and the first year course of the Leadership Academy. Currently she teaches Honors Level Physics and Foundations for Success, a freshman seminar class new to Lancaster. Throughout her career she has been advisor for the Science Honor Society, Science Olympiad, National Honor Society, and Z Club. Currently she serves as advisor for the Sophomore Class and the Rocketry Club. She is a member of the American Association of Physics Teachers and STANYS. Mrs. Skowron also is involved in promoting leadership activities at the local, state and national levels. Outside of the classroom she spends time with her family supporting them at their school, and in their sports and activities and volunteers in her community. She is looking forward to participating in the Master Teacher Program to increase her knowledge of content and pedagogy, provide an opportunity to network with other Master Teachers, and help pre-service teachers to embrace the teaching profession and promote STEM education.
