Sandra Miller
Lancaster Central High School ScienceSandra Miller earned her BA and MS from SUNY Buffalo State and has professional certification in Biology, Earth Science, and General Science Education 7-12. Mrs. Miller was in the All College Honors Program and on the Dean´s List at Buffalo State. Mrs. Miller has been teaching at Lancaster High School since 2002 and is teaching Advanced Placement Biology and Oceanography. She has taught Honors and Regents Living Environment and Regents Earth Science. She has been the Advisor of Lancaster’s Chapter of the New York State Science Honor Society for 13 years. As Advisor, Mrs. Miller leads groups to collect trash and record data at events in conjunction with Buffalo Niagara Waterkeepers, established an Annual Science Evening to inspire STEM curiosity, and supervises community service projects. She is a Kagan Coach and New Teacher Mentor for the district. Sandy participates in the POGIL (Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning) Community to discuss and enhance practices with educators nationally. Mrs. Miller participates in the Metagenomics Study in partnership with the University at Buffalo in testing and analyzing local water. Lancaster High Scool participates in the Envirothon Competition and Day In the Life of the Niagara River/Lake Erie Watershed Events led by Mrs. Miller. She also attended EARTHEd at the University at Buffalo and the Summer Teacher Institute at Reinstein Woods. Mrs. Miller enjoys reading psychological thrillers, going to the beach, and traveling. As a member of the Master Teacher Program, Sandy is looking forward to networking with other Master Teachers, mentoring pre-service teachers, and sharing best practices.
