Mrs. Ferger earned a BS in Dietetics from SUNY Plattsburgh, an MS in Nutrition from SUNY Buffalo, and Secondary Education certification from Daemen College. Prior to teaching, Mrs. Ferger worked as a Registered Consultant Dietitian in local Skilled Nursing Facilities and as a Clinical Dietitian at the VA Medical Center in Buffalo. Mrs. Ferger served as a SUNY Buffalo Adjunct Faculty Member, teaching Nutrition courses. One of her favorite roles as a Dietitian included teaching others about eating healthy, so decided to go back to school to become a teacher. She began teaching in 2002 at Iroquois CSD, first as a Family and Consumer Sciences and Health Teacher, then as a Life Science Teacher. She taught Regents Biology at the Iroquois Summer Academy for 11 years. Mrs. Ferger is currently an advisor for Teens in Action Community Service Club, Bright Minds STEM Club, and the STEM Leadership Group. The STEM Leadership Group’s objective is to organize and run student-led Family STEM Nights for the community. Mrs. Ferger headed an educator team that was awarded a grant from the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation. This funding helped establish a Girls STEM Group for the purpose of promoting interest in STEM among middle and high school girls. During her spare time, Mrs. Ferger enjoys camping, canoeing, and skiing with her family. She is excited to share ideas with her peers, grow as a professional, and continue her love for learning and teaching through participation in the NYS Master Teacher Program.
