Robert O'Connor

Bob O’Connor attended the University of Buffalo, then finished his undergraduate degree at Buffalo State where he earned a BS degree in Secondary Science Education, then earned his MS Degree. He started teaching at Kenmore East High School in 1994 because he loved working with teenagers, where he currently teaches IB and AP Biology, Living Environment and Ways of the Wilderness, and is also the Science Department Chairman. He was an adjunct professor teaching Aquatic Ecology at Buffalo State, and enjoyed shooting wedding photography for 20 years. For the last 13 years he and a colleague have traveled with students to different destinations including Chicago, Woods Hole, Boston, NYC and Washington DC to do research and enjoy museums. Bob is a member of NSTA and STANYS, and has gone to Yellowstone National Park numerous times with graduate students from UB to facilitate wolf watching, and fly fishing. For the last few years Bob has worked with students to annotate gene sequences in conjunction with The Western New York Genetics in Research Partnership at UB. As a Master Teacher, Mr. O’Connor looks forward to working with other teachers, becoming a better teacher, and working on an aquatics program to allow more teachers in the area experiences in aquatics.
