Robert Atkinson

Pioneer Middle School Earth Science

Robert Atkinson earned his BS in Meteorology and MS in Education from SUNY Brockport.  As a student at Brockport, Robert interned at 13WHAM news as a Meteorologist and broadcasted the weather via the television station SUNY Cable News. Prior to teaching, Robert volunteered at several schools and attended an NSTA conference, which sparked a love for teaching. To this day, Robert holds an award for Citizen of the Month in Evans, New York for his outstanding courage in the community. In the classroom for 5 years, Mr. Atkinson teaches Earth Science to advanced students, and physical science. He also coaches the Pioneer Middle School Science Olympiad team. Mr. Atkinson is an active member at Pioneer Middle School coordinating an afterschool recreation program, homework help program, chaperoning school trips, and assisting in many positive behavior and intervention support activities. Those events include reward night, numeracy night, and family reading night. In his spare time, he likes to travel, snowboard, and camp. He also likes to forecast the weather to his friends, especially during lake effect season! As a NYS Master Teacher, Mr. Atkinson is looking forward to learning new things, sharing best practices, and growing in the profession of teaching.
