Rachèlle Hathaway
Newfane Elementary and Middle School MathematicsRachélle Hathaway earned her BS in Elementary Education Pre K-6 with a concentration in mathematics, extending her certification to Mathematics 7-12 from Roberts Wesleyan College. She also holds an MSEd in Mathematics Education grades 6-8 from Walden University. Employed by Newfane Central Schools since 2006 , Mrs. Hathaway is currently a K-8 Instructional Support Specialist in Mathematics. Before her current role, she spent 8 years as a K-4 Math Specialist, designing and implementing intervention and enrichment math programs. Before that, she dedicated 6 years to teaching various middle and high school mathematics courses. Mrs. Hathaway's first tenure job was with Eire 1 BOCES, teaching mathematics to incarcerated students aged 8-17. In this role, she developed her passion for teaching math, recognizing that true mathematical learning occurs when basic student needs are met, the classroom environment is safe, and the teacher enjoys what they are teaching. In addition to teaching math in her district, Mrs. Hathaway has actively participated in various Elementary School committees such as Family Fun Night & Carnival, Talent Show, Science Fair, and Fall Festival. She is currently serving as the Tech Chair for Niagara-Orleans Section VI Boys Swimming and volunteering as a coordinator for the Neumann Catholic School Swim League. She is also a member of the Association of Mathematics Teachers of NYS and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Mrs. Hathaway looks forward to participating in Master Teacher workshops discussing math pedagogy and the vertical development of mathematical concepts and skills.
