Rachel Fleming
Roy B Kelley Elementary MathRachel Fleming earned her BA as a double major in Psychology and Anthropology from the SUNY Geneseo, where she graduated as a member of Lambda Alpha National Anthropology Honor Society. She continued on to earn her MSEd in Elementary Education from Nazareth College. In addition, Mrs. Fleming took several additional undergraduate courses in math and science at UNC Charlotte to broaden her knowledge in these subject areas. While in North Carolina, she became certified in Mathematics for grades 6-8. Mrs. Fleming is currently teaching 3rd Grade for the Lockport City School District at Roy B. Kelley Elementary. When not engaged in school activities, Mrs. Fleming enjoys family time spent outdoors, especially camping and hiking. She and her girls also own 3 horses and most of her free time is spent caring for, riding, and showing them. One of Mrs. Fleming’s proudest accomplishments was helping to design and implement a 3 year-old program during her last tenured position in the Genesee Valley Central School District. This was a student-centered, hands-on, STEM based program. She used models of Progressive preschool, Responsive Classroom, and Montessori to help influence the curriculum. This position allowed for opportunities to explore the world of STEM and was the inspiration to continue learning. As a NYS Master Teacher, she hopes to continue her quest for new information and the knowledge to inspire her students for years to come.
