Omer Bitar
Lackawanna High School ChemistryOmer Bitar earned his BS in Biochemistry from Canisius College, and his MS in Adolescent Education from D'Youville College. He holds NYS Certifications in Chemistry, Biology, and Teaching English to Students of Other Languages (TESOL). In his 9th year of teaching, Mr. Bitar has taught at Oracle Charter School, Henrietta G. Lewis Campus School, and currently teaches at Lackawanna High School. Throughout that time, Mr. Bitar has taught Living Environment, Regents Chemistry, General Chemistry, Physical Science, Forensics, and Earth Science. As an educator in a high poverty district, Mr. Bitar is passionate about STEM education as a vehicle for advancing the lives of his students. In addition to teaching, Mr. Bitar is the Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) Coach, advisor for the Bioinformatics Club, and is in the process of constructing a greenhouse in the school courtyard. With the support of his wife and two sons, Mr. Bitar is excited about the opportunity of being involved in the Master Teacher Program and sharing ideas with his colleagues.
