Michael Pawlikowski
Depew Union Free School District MathematicsMichael Pawlikowski earned his B.S. in 2003 and M.S. in 2007 in Secondary Math Education from Buffalo State. He earned his Ph.D. in Learning and Instruction in Mathematics Education from University at Buffalo in 2014. Prior to returning to the secondary classroom, Dr. Pawlikowski worked as an Assistant Professor in the mathematics department at SUNY Geneseo where he taught math and math education courses, supervised student teachers, and advised graduate students’ master’s projects. Dr. Pawlikowski also served on the executive board and is an active member of the Association of Mathematics Teachers of New York State (AMTNYS), and has been a manuscript reviewer and active member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). Dr. Pawlikowski uses his research to inform his teaching practices which include social metacognition and micro-creativity of small group processes, geometric reasoning, and problem posing and problem solving in mathematics. As a NYS Master Teacher, Dr. Pawlikowski looks forward to participating in the upcoming mini-course on Math Landscapes and joining the “International Teacher PD” Professional Learning Team.
