Melanie Meller received her BA in Elementary Education with a concentration in Spanish in 2002 and a Masters in Elementary Education with a focus in reading in 2005 both from the State University College at Buffalo. During her undergraduate work in 2000, she studied abroad in Salamanca, Spain. As of June 2021, she has been teaching for 19 years teaching grades first through fourth. This fall 2022, she took the opportunity to work with fifth grade middle school students teaching Science and English Language Arts at Cheektowaga Middle School. Mrs. Meller was recognized as a Warrior Way to Go Teacher because of her dedication to her English as a Second Language Students. She participates in monthly meetings for both the Science and English Language Arts Committees. Additionally, Mrs. Meller is also a member of Science Teachers Association of New York State, The New York State Association for Computers and Technologies in Education, and the Parent Teacher Association. Mrs. Meller is passionate about cross curricular connections in different content areas. She strives to meet students’ needs through a workshop model, differentiated instruction, and cooperative learning. As a lifelong Western New Yorker, Mrs. Meller spends time with her family and friends. She enjoys fitness, reading, and spending time at Chautauqua Lake. As a New York State Master Teacher, she is looking forward to professional development regarding the shift with the Next Generation Science Standards. Mrs. Meller is also thrilled to be joining the Amplify and Outdoor Science Professional Learning Teams.
