Matt VanKoughnett earned his BD in Industrial technology which lead to a robust career in manufacturing. Mr. VanKoughnett was able to build fire trucks, parachutist oxygen supply and rocket fuel supply systems. In those career choices his favorite part was passing on his acquired knowledge to his team. A leap was made into education and he received a Post Bacc Certificate and Masters in Technology Education from Buffalo State College. Mr. VanKoughnett has taught Technology Education at Buffalo Public and Alternative Ed for E2CCB, The Academy at Maple Ave. Mr. VanKoughnett is currently at Pine Valley CSD where he teaches classes including Design Drawing for Production, Construction Systems, Manufacturing, Transportation, Robotics and Industrial Arts. He advises the Powersports Club which recently restored a ATV as well as a vintage stand up jetski. His students annually take part in the STEM wars events that are offered around the area. Mr. VanKoughnett is the acting President of the New York State Technology and Engineering Educators Association, an organization committed to meeting the needs of STEM educators across New York State. Mr. VanKoughnett enjoys teaching STEM courses because of the moments when students are able to pull form their own resources, knowledge and Materials and combine them to create solutions to complex engineering problems. As a NYS Master Teacher, he is looking forward to collaborating with like minded individuals that come from a diverse background to create a broader knowledge pool to teach from.
