Since becoming a math teacher in Salamanca in 1994, Mr. Finn spent three years at the Wellsville Central School District, six years at the CA-BOCES Career and Tech Center in Ellicottville, and has been at Ellicottville Central School as the Middle School Math Teacher since 2003 until 2022 when he also taught a Regents Geometry class. At Ellicottville, Mr. Finn coaches the Boys Varsity Soccer Team, Varsity Softball, and the JV Girls Basketball Team along with being two class advisers and the Varsity Club Adviser. Mr. Finn is also an active member of the School Wellness Committee and the Firekeepers Club while also reviving the school’s Mascot, Elliott the Eagle. In his classroom, Mr. Finn draws inspiration from a quote by Ted Lasso in an effort to quote Walt Whitman when he says “Be curious, not judgmental”. Math should always be questioned as to why it works and how we can get better at it. That exact quote is the same reason that Mr. Finn applied to the Master Teacher program because he is curious to learn so much more to learn about Math, teaching, and working with young adults.
