Matthew Frank earned his BS and MS in Mathematics Education, Grades 7-12, from SUNY Buffalo State College. After graduating, Mr. Frank began working as a Mathematics teacher in the Buffalo Public School District. He is now in his thirteenth year in the district and his second year at Fredrick Law Olmsted School #156. He currently teaches Math 8 and Advanced Algebra for 8th Graders. Mr. Frank is a two-time Buffalo Bills Touchdown for Teachers Nominee and is the 2021 Friends for a Better Buffalo’s Excellence in Education High School Teacher of the Year. Mr. Frank coaches the Middle School Math Team, who won 2018 District Championship. After School Mr. Frank has worked as both a Varsity Football and Cheerleading Coach. Now he works as the Head Coach for the City Honors Women’s Rugby team which features female Athletes from 5 different area schools. In 2021 the team won the New York State Championship and was ranked in the top 20 in the country for high school women’s teams. Mr. Frank is also an active rugby referee and player for the KenTon Misfits RFC. Mr. Frank has always had a passion for mathematics and growing his students respect for the importance of Mathematics in their lives. As a NYS Master Teacher, Mr. Frank is looking forward to working with other Master Teachers and being a leader and mentor for people entering the education profession.
