Maria Coats
City Honors School BiologyMaria Coats earned a B.S. in Adolescence Education and Special Education with a concentration in Chemistry at Niagara University. She went on to earn a Master of Science in Differentiated Instruction from Canisius College. She has been teaching for six years at City Honors School in the S.T.A.R.S Program; STudents with Autism Rising to Success. She teaches Biology, Earth Science, and Environmental Science to students who possess diverse learning abilities and challenge her to think creatively to meet the needs of all students. Mrs. Coats also provides private Chemistry tutoring to students who require additional support outside of the classroom in other school districts throughout the Western New York area. Mrs. Coats is also an advisor for her school's Prom Committee. In her spare time, she fosters and rehabs dogs and works to find their forever homes. As a NYS Master Teacher, she looks forward to working collaboratively with passionate teachers to help better her career and her students. She looks forward to participating in the NYSLSS PLT.
