Kimberly Alexander received her B.S. in biology with a coordinate in environmental studies from Niagara University in 2015. She then continued at Niagara and earned her M.S. Ed. in Middle Childhood and Adolescent Education in 2017. She has five years of teaching experience at Lewiston-Porter Middle School where she is currently employed as a 7th Grade General Science teacher. At Lew-Port, Kimberly is a member of the Restorative Practices team and a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Liaison. She is also a member of the Crew Committee which develops social and emotional learning curriculum for the middle school’s Crew class. This is some of the most fulfilling work Kimberly has ever done and it dovetails nicely with much of her independent research and scholarship. She is a co-author of three published articles and one book, with multiple other projects currently underway. Kimberly is also an active member of the Science Teachers Association of New York State. In her free time, Kimberly loves rock climbing, hiking, and traveling to national parks. First exposed to the Master Teacher Program when she took physics classes at SUNY Buffalo State, Kimberly is honored to be joining the program that significantly shaped her educational journey. She is looking forward to deepening her STEM knowledge through mini-courses and to sharing her passion for STEM and social and emotional learning with practicing and pre-service teachers.
