Kim Healy
Chautauqua Lake High School Living Environment and Field ScienceKim Healy earned her BA in Biology, minor in Anthropology and BA in Education from SUNY Fredonia where she received an excellence in teaching award. She then spent two months in Kenya as part of the Schools for Field Science program studying East African flora and fauna populations. She earned an MS in Biology/Herpetology from John Carroll University where she was awarded a graduate assistantship. Mrs. Healy spent time as an inside pharmaceutical representative before deciding teaching was her passion. Mrs. Healy has now been teaching for the past 15 years. The last nine years were spent at Salamanca HS teaching Physical Science and Regents Living Environment. She currently teaches Outside Field Science, Regents Living Environment and Living Environment Directed Learning lab at Chautauqua Lake High School. Mrs. Healy has been involved as a high school mentor program facilitator and science department head and as a Science Technology Entry Program coordinator. Kim is currently certified as a Kayak instructor and is pursuing drone pilot certification. Her public learning communities this year include amphibian conservation and minimizing salamander habitat fragmentation which may come with the building of a new trail system in Chautauqua County. Mrs. Healy is currently a member of American Indians Science and Engineering Society, National Science Teacher Association, Science Teachers Association of NYS, and Society for the Study of Amphibians and Reptiles. She is very much looking forward to broadening her professional circle and to expanding her knowledge base through the Master Teacher Program.
