Kelly Cal
City Honors High School BiologyKelly Cal earned her B.S. in Biology and her M.S.Ed. in Secondary Education and Earth Science from SUNY College Buffalo. Mrs. Cal has been a lecture and laboratory teacher for sixteen years in Buffalo Public Schools. She has spent the last ten years teaching Living Environment Lecture and Lab and Advanced Placement Environmental Science at City Honors School. Mrs. Cal served as the City Honors Science Research Program Coordinator, where students from City Honors worked with researchers from Roswell Park and Hauptman-Woodward. Additionally, she has been a sponsor for students who attend the INTEL International Science and Engineering Fair and the NYS Science Congress. Outside of teaching, Kelly has served as a board member for the Western New York Science and Engineering Fair and is currently on their Scientific Review Committee for fair projects. In 2013, she received the Phi Delta Kappa Excellence in Secondary Teaching Award from the Buffalo-Niagara Chapter. Recently, Mrs. Cal participated in the WNY Genetics in Research Partnership Program teaching students to annotate genomes of different bacteria using GENI-ACT. Outside of school, Kelly loves to travel, trains for marathons and is learning to play the ukulele. As a NYS Master Teacher, she looks forward to the many opportunities she will have to learn from other accomplished professionals
