Katherine Carretto
Alfred-Almond Jr./Sr. High School BiologyKatherine Carretto earned her B.A. in Biology from Alfred University in 2001. She continued her studies at Alfred earning her M.S. in Secondary Biology Education in 2002. Ms. Carretto began teaching at Alfred-Almond Junior/Senior High School in 2003. Throughout her career at Alfred-Almond, her schedule has remained consistent, teaching Regents Living Environment, Academic Intervention Services in Science and AP Biology. In 2013, she was selected as a Business First Teacher of Merit, an accolade awarded to her through student nominations. She is a strong advocate for developing positive, meaningful relationships with students and fostering an engaging, student-centered classroom environment. At Alfred-Almond, Katherine currently serves as the advisor for the Junior class and Student Government, membership coordinator for the local union, and as a member of the district’s Technology Team, Women in Leadership Team, and APPR Committee. When she is not teaching, you can find Katherine spending time with family and walking her beloved yellow lab, Partner. She enjoys various physical pursuits including power walking, weightlifting, spinning and yoga. Ms. Carretto is very pleased to collaborate with other STEM professionals and to bring fresh, innovative ideas back to her students and colleagues.
