Lockport High School Mathematics

Katelyn Mazurkiewicz earned her BA in mathematics from SUNY Geneseo and MSEd from Canisius College.  In the classroom 9 years at Lockport High School, Mrs. Mazurkiewicz teaches Common Core Algebra and a Common Core Algebra stretch course.  She is the Mathematics Department Chair for grades 9-12, chair of the Mathematics Honor Society committee, and a member of the Digital Learning Team at Lockport School District.  She has been teaching as an adjunct professor at Canisius College in the Differentiated Instruction graduate program for the past seven years. Her current projects and interests involve using technology and differentiated instruction to better utilize class time for the application of mathematics to everyday experiences.  She also likes to work with other teachers and pre-service math teacher to expose them to different methods they can use within their classrooms.  Outside of school, she is active in her community with tutoring students and participating in local soccer programs.  As a NYS Master Teacher, Mrs. Mazurkiewicz is looking forward to working with other committed teachers, expanding her own knowledge of teaching, and being able to share her work and findings with others.
