Julie Tette
Lockport School District Living Environment & AP BiologyJulie Tette earned her BS in Animal Science from Cornell University and MSEd from SUNY Brockport. Julie has taught Living Environment and Advanced Placement (AP) Biology at the high school level for the past 14 years. She has also been adjunct professor at Niagara University and Niagara County Community College. Ms. Tette's past projects include a Virtual AP Grant through Erie 1 Board of Cooperative Educational Services to develop an online course for AP Biology for NYS. She has been focusing on developing a blended learning classroom and "gamifying" the classroom through various on-line open source platforms to improve student motivation and achievement. She is also very interested in promoting STEM at every grade level and has been involved in NYS Education Department's STEM Institute for the past three years. Julie is an active member of National Science Teachers Association and the Science Teachers Association of NYS. Within the NYS Master Teacher Program, Ms. Tette is a member of the Flipped Classroom Professional Learning Team (PLT), participated in various workshops last summer, and is developing a Gamification PLT. Ms. Tette's favorite part about teaching STEM is reigniting students' innate curiosity and passion for learning about their natural world.
