Julie Sylor
Franklinville Elementary Mathematics, Science, Technology/Engineering, Computer Science, RoboticsJulie Sylor earned her BS in Elementary Education from Houghton College, NY and earned her MS in Childhood Literacy from St. Bonaventure University. Mrs. Sylor has taught several grades of elementary classes at Franklinville Central School since she began her career in 1997. For the past two years she has worked as the elementary STEAM teacher designing a unique curriculum for this newly created position. Along with her role as STEAM teacher, Mrs. Sylor is a member of the Academic Reception Committee, serves on the Peer Mentor Program for new teachers and hosts the annual STEAM Fair. She is an educator member of the Civil Air Patrol. Outside of school, Mrs. Sylor is the president of The Cordelian Club, a community organization that raises funds for the local Bertrand Chaffee Hospital and whose mission is to be social, educational, charitable, and creative. Before beginning her teaching career, Mrs. Sylor was an army spouse during which time she served as a volunteer at the Pear Blossom Cottage Family Center at Camp Stanley, Korea and worked as a volunteer with the Family Support Group at Fort Stewart, GA. As a NYS Master Teacher she is looking forward to joining a professional learning community to enrich her teaching practices and share this learning with her colleagues for the good of all students.
