Joshua Cooke earned a BSEd in Childhood Education 1–6 from SUNY Buffalo State University and a Master of Science in Curriculum and Education from SUNY Buffalo State University. Mr. Cooke currently teaches 4th grade ICT at PS 093 Southside Elementary and previously taught ENL 4th grade for six years at the same school in Buffalo. He is an active member of his school community, serving on the leadership committee and as lead liaison for the WOZED STEM program. Mr. Cooke has also worked in the after-school program at Southside for nearly 10 years and is an active participant in parent engagement events as well as community-based Saturday Academy programs. Outside of school, Joshua is involved in community-based initiatives such as Mentoring Your Attitude, a youth-based program focused on career development, and Potter’s Hands, which is an initiative serving families in need of housing amenities. Mr. Cooke was a regular participant in available Master Teacher workshops prior to his selection as a participant in the program. As a NYS Master Teacher, Mr. Cooke looks forward to mentoring new teachers, investing in his school community, and deepening his understanding of elementary science to better engage his students and community.
