Jenny Tilaro

Allegany-Limestone Central High School Science

After earning her degree in Secondary Education for Biology and Chemistry (7-12) from SUNY Fredonia in 2002, Mrs. Tilaro has had the fortune of teaching several science courses in her tenure, Emerging Infectious Diseases and AP Chemistry, were a few of her favorites. Mrs. Tilaro earned her Masters Degree in General Education from SUNY at Buffalo in 2005, and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership as a certified District Leader and Building Leader from SUNY Stonybrook University in 2013. Her eagerness to learn had earned her the distinction of being 2010 Centers for Disease Control Science Ambassador, where she worked one on one with CDC scientists in Atlanta, GA, on developing science curriculum and lesson plans to use in the classroom. Currently, Mrs. Tilaro teaches High School Anatomy & Physiology and Biology at Allegany-Limestone Central School District and is the inaugural Advisor for the Gay, Straight Alliance Club, where students and allies who form part of the LGBTQ+AI community have a safe space to be heard, and learn how to advocate and educate. As the first, first generation American in the family, she was the family interpreter, helped her parents’ study for their citizenship exam, and taking a Real Estate Course with her father, so she could be his personal tutor. Seeing others achieve and succeed became an addiction, inspiring her to pursue a career in education. Now, with a family of her own, she enjoys the company of her two teenage sons, and husband during their free time, and will somehow find time to crochet, make jewelry, or garden when she can. As a NYS Master Teacher, Mrs. Tilaro looks forward to collaborating and developing lessons with talented teachers in the program, in hopes of supporting and inspiring her colleagues and students to become leaders in STEM.
