
Jean Weitz
Williamsville East High School ScienceJean Weitz holds a BA in Biology and a Master of Science in Science Education (MSEd) in Computer Technology from Buffalo State University. She is a dedicated science educator with over two decades of experience at Williamsville East High School. Since 2002, she has taught Regents Earth Science, Regents Living Environment, and Honors Living Environment to 9th and 10th graders, fostering a love for science in the next generation. Mrs. Weitz combines her deep knowledge of biology, earth science, and technology to create an engaging learning environment. Mrs. Weitz has a passion for student success both inside and outside the classroom. She has successfully coached three Science Olympiad teams, helping students excel in state and regional competitions. She is an active member of professional organizations, including the Buffalo Geological Society, the Science Teachers Association of New York State (STANYS), and the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA). Mrs. Weitz is deeply invested in the future of science education and is excited to embrace the new New York State Science Learning Standards. Through the NYSMTP professional development program, she has gained the tools to innovate her teaching methods and create a dynamic, hands-on learning experience for her students. Outside the classroom, Mrs. Weitz enjoys exploring the rich history of Western New York, riding her horses, and counting her sheep. As a NYS Master Teacher, she looks forward to peer networking that is invaluable for sharing ideas, lesson plans, and resources, as well as discussing challenges and successes, encouraging a culture of continuous learning.
