Jean Gallo

Jean Gallo earned her B.A. degree from SUNY Potsdam and her M.S.Ed from Niagara University. She has been employed at Lockport City School District for 12 years as the SUNY Chemistry teacher. Jean also teaches Regents Chemistry and Living Environment as needed. Mrs. Gallo has been an adjunct professor at Niagara University and is currently an adjunct at NCCC. 
Before entering the teaching field, Jean was a research support specialist at the NYS College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University studying antibiotic resistance in gram positive organisms. Mrs. Gallo held a similar position at McArdle Lab for Cancer Research at University of Wisconsin Madison where she was part of a team that developed a DNA plasmid vector that has dual expression in eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells. Jean has co-authored 15 peer-reviewed papers and has presented at 12 professional meetings and owns the patent on the above DNA vector. Currently, Mrs. Gallo is co-advisor of National Science Honor Society and a mentor in “Sources of Strength”, a suicide prevention program. 
At home, Jean has a small menagerie of llamas, goats and chickens. She also is an amateur beekeeper. Her most recent project was building a timber frame barn from the standing dead oak in her forest. Mrs. Gallo belongs to STANYS, NSTA, Farm Bureau, NY Forest Owner Association and DAR. As a NYS Master Teacher, Mrs. Gallo looks forward to collaboration and networking with other passionate professionals.
