James Vitale
Randolph Academy Hamburg Campus Living Environment, Earth Science and Environmental ScienceJames Vitale earned his B.A. in Biological Sciences, B.S. in Environmental Studies, and ED.M. in Biology Education from the University at Buffalo. Mr. Vitale has been in the science classroom since 2004 and currently teaches Living Environment, Earth Science, and Environmental Science to high school students attending Randolph Academy Hamburg Campus. Before his teaching career, Mr. Vitale worked as a wildlife educator raising environmental awareness to a variety of audiences through a series of unique live animal encounters. This inspired him to earn New York State Teacher Certification and become a professional science educator. In his second year of teaching, Mr. Vitale was awarded the Coalition of Western New York Retired Teachers Scholarship. He is passionate about creating opportunities for students to learn and explore science outdoors. Mr. Vitale’s students participate in A Day in the Life of the Buffalo River and the Trout in the Classroom programs. Mr. Vitale is a former snowboard instructor and has been coaching high school lacrosse for more than 7 years. As a New York State Master Teacher, James looks forward to learning from and contributing to Professional Learning Teams, especially those focused on Climate and Outdoor Science.
