Donna Callaghan
Forest Elementary MathematicsDonna Callaghan earned her BS in Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education from SUNY Buffalo State. She earned her MS in Elementary Education with a concentration in Reading from SUNY at Buffalo. She was asked to participate in the Leadership Initiative for Tomorrow’s Schools (LIFTS) where she earned her School District Administration as well as School Building Administration Certification through the State University of New York at Buffalo. Mrs. Callaghan has been serving as the Math Specialist at Forest Elementary School in Williamsville for the past 23 years. She is currently teaching math to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade classes and provides Academic Intervention to students in K & 1.
Mrs. Callaghan runs several clubs at Forest Elementary. Currently she runs a Lego club, a Hands-On-Equations Club, as well as BED time Math Clubs. In addition, this year she has started a club to promote good character as well as helping out members of the community, called Take Our Youth Seriously. Mrs. Callaghan chairs the Math Committee at her school. She is also sits on the District Fluency Team. Donna holds monthly Staff Development classes to help fellow teachers examine best teaching practices, and explore new strategies for teaching math. Mrs. Callaghan also chairs the building Child Study Team and also serves as the staff PTA representative. She is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics as well as Association of Mathematics Teachers of New York State. Mrs. Callaghan is looking forward to continue to learn and grow as an educator, as well as meeting others in the NYS MTP.
