Colleen Burkett
Royalton-Hartland High School ScienceColleen M. Burkett earned her B.A. in Chemistry from The College of Wooster and her M.A. in Analytical Chemistry from The University of Arizona. She currently teaches Regents Chemistry, Conceptual Physics, and SUNY Niagara Dual Enrollment College Chemistry at Royalton-Hartland High School. In 2023, Ms. Burkett was honored as the Outstanding High School Science Teacher of the Year by the Western New York American Chemical Society, and in 2024, she received the Nicholas Romano Chemistry Award from the Science Teachers Association of New York State. Ms. Burkett is a strong proponent of utilizing self-paced, mastery-based instruction, an approach she has shared through the Modern Classroom Project Podcast and a publication in Chemistry Solutions. Beyond the classroom, Ms. Burkett enjoys traveling, going on long walks with her family, and discovering new recipes to share.
