Chris Kensy earned his BS in Middle Childhood Mathematics with a 7–12 Extension from SUNY Fredonia and MSEd in Educational Technology from SUNY Buffalo State. Mr. Kensy teaches Algebra, Integrated Algebra and Algebra 2 at Amherst High School. During his 14 years in teaching, Mr. Kensy has coached Modified, JV and Varsity football and has coached the boys Varsity basketball team for 13 seasons. Over this time frame his team has won nine ECIC Division Titles and three Sectional Titles while being awarded Coach of the year eight times. Mr. Kensy is a member of the Amherst Central Culturally Responsive Teaching Committee, the Amherst High School Safety Committee, Amherst District Return to School Committee and is a member of the Association of Mathematics Teachers of New York State. Mr. Kensy has volunteered with the American Cancer Society over the last 12 years, helping to raise approximately $57,000 and has been awarded ACHS Teacher of the Month two times. He is very excited for the opportunity to work within the NYS Master Teacher Program and is looking forward to working with educators from all over New York State to bring new ideas to his classroom. When Mr. Kensy is not teaching or coaching, he enjoys spending time with his wife, three children and their dog, Lola.
