Akron Central School Technology and Engineering

Christina O'Malley earned her BS in Technology Education from Buffalo State in 2006 and MS in Differentiated Instruction with Gifted Education extension from Canisius College in 2009. She began her teaching career in 2006 at her alma mater, Akron Central, teaching high school technology. Her passion resides in coaching middle school students in building creative, critical, and self-regulated thinking skills to create solutions to tomorrow's problems; STEM is the perfect canvas to practice this. In her Creative Design & Engineering class, students learn science, math, and technological skills to collaboratively engineer solutions to given design challenges. As a district instructional coach, Christina supports teacher practice for the purpose of increased student engagement, learning, and achievement. She is an active learner and participant of NYS Association for Computers and Technologies in Education and International Society for Technology Education. Christina is an active member of Akron Rotary Club and adviser to the high school Interact Club; both service organizations that take action to create lasting change in her community and globally. Outside the classroom, she enjoys exploring the outdoors, innovating her home, and tinkering with her husband and kids. Prior to acceptance, she had participated in math and science NYSMTP mini-courses and looks forward to working with fellow Master Teachers to deepen knowledge in computer science, robotics, mathematics, and engineering.
