Christa Boivin

Christa obtained both of her degrees from D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY. She first obtained her Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Management with a minor in Accounting in May of 1993. During this time, she received an award from M&T Bank for her performance in college. Christa returned to D’Youville College for her Masters of Science in Secondary Education, which she completed in August 2001. Included with her Master’s Degree she obtained the following certifications: permanent Mathematics 7-12 and Business Education 7-12; as well as professional: Special Education; Mathematics 7-12; Elementary Education 1-6 and Special Education; Elementary 1-6. As of June 2017, she have been teaching for 16 years as both a general education Mathematics teacher and a Special Education Mathematics teacher. Currently, she is teaching in the Virtual Pathways Program at the Math Science Technology High School in Buffalo. This allows her to assist with all courses but her focus is on Algebra, Survey of Geometry and Geometry; along with Living Environment, Environmental Science and Earth Science. She also has taught high school Mathematics for the Alternate High School Education Program in West Seneca for the last 10 years. She has been a part of the leadership committees in multiple schools; participated in/implemented Vertical Alignment; on the scheduling committee; the 8th grade lead teacher; assisted with revision of policies and procedures of one school and developed Math B curriculum for another school. Outside of school, she has been the team manager for her son’s hockey team and active in each of hery children’s schools as a volunteer mom and through the PTA. She continues this by helping when and where she can for her grandchildrens' schools. She is currently an active member of the Hogs and Heroes Foundation, Inc. as the Treasurer of NY Chapter 4. She helped to start this non-profit organization in New York State, as well as assisted in the opening of four chapters; has been the treasurer for three of the chapters and President of one chapter. Her inspiration for teaching math was her 7th grade math teacher.
