Carl Koppman
Grand Island High School TechnologyMr. Koppmann earned his Master’s Degree in Technology Education from the State University of New York College at Buffalo. He has been a High School Engineering Technology teacher for more than 12 years with the Grand Island Central School District. He currently teaches courses in Computer-Aided Design for college credit, as well as Advanced Technical Design which fully immerses students in the design process from start to finish. A “student-centered, project-based, hands-on learning experience” is what you will find in his classrooms. Mr. Koppmann’s interests outside the classroom involve the outdoors and the natural beauty this world has to offer. He pursues many activities that help fuel his desire for learning: from rock and ice climbing, to surfing and kiteboarding, you will always find Carl somewhere outside on another adventure. Those interests that fuel his own learning get passed on to his students. As a New York State Master teacher, Carl looks forward to working closely with Science and Technology teachers to further his knowledge base in the field of robotics, design, and engineering through various professional learning teams in the Master Teacher Program.
